Description:

The Department of Linguistics of the University of Ottawa’s Faculty of Arts
invites applications for a 12-month replacement position in phonetics and
phonology at the assistant professor level, commencing July 1, 2022.

Title of the Position: Replacement professor at the level of assistant
professor, but higher ranks will be considered under exceptional
circumstances. 

Duties: Responsibilities for the position include teaching undergraduate
courses and supervising graduate students. The teaching load will include 5
courses (in French) and the candidate will be able to conduct their research
at the Sound Patterns Laboratory.
The successful candidate will be expected to carry out a research program and
participate in the administrative activities of the unit.

Terms: One year position, starting July 1, 2022.

Wage: Salary scale for an Assistant Professor starts at $88,735 (as of May 1,
2022). 

Benefits Package: The University of Ottawa provides a complete benefits
package which includes long-term disability, basic group life insurance,
supplementary health insurance, University of Ottawa Pension Plan and optional
life insurance, as well as relocation expenses.

Location of Work: Department of Linguistics, University of Ottawa, 70 Laurier
Avenue East, Ottawa, ON K1N 6N5. 

Required Skills: The successful candidate will have the following
qualifications: (1) a doctorate in linguistics, specializing in phonology
and/or phonetics; (2) evidence of strong research potential; (3) a secondary
expertise in sociolinguistics, syntax, semantics, or psycholinguistics would
be an asset. 

Short-listed candidates will be invited to do an interview (likely using
videoconference technology).
