Professor / Associate Professor in Bilingualism and Communication (Ref.

The Department of Chinese and Bilingual Studies (CBS) is one of the
constituent departments of the Faculty of Humanities. More information about
the Department may be found at http://www.cbs.polyu.edu.hk/.

The appointee will be required to:  
 - engage in teaching and related learning activities at both undergraduate
and  postgraduate levels; 
 - engage in programme/curriculum design and development, consultancy projects
and other scholarly activities that help promote the Department’s mission and
vision; 
 - undertake scholarly research in his/her area of expertise and play a
leadership role in scholarly activities (especially for appointment at
Professor level), including mentoring junior researchers; 
 - provide administrative support and advice for academic and departmental
affairs; 
 - render service to committee work of various levels at the University,
academic community as well as the society at large; and 
 - perform any other duties as assigned by the Head of Department or his/her
delegates. 

An appointee at Professor level will be expected to demonstrate academic
excellence and provide academic leadership in his/her area of expertise. 

Applicants should have: 
 - a PhD degree in a relevant discipline, preferably with the specialism in
Intercultural Communication, Corporate Communication, Public Relations,
Bilingualism / Multilingualism, Language Analytics in Business Communication,
or related fields; 
 - substantial post-qualification work experiences and an excellent record of
relevant academic and/or professional achievements, including competitive
grant awards and recognition of academic leadership by professional bodies; 
 - a high level of fluency in English, with knowledge of Chinese being an
advantage; and 
 - a strong commitment to excellence in teaching, scholarly activities, and
professional service.

Remuneration and Conditions of Service:
A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered. An appropriate term
will be provided for appointment at Associate Professor and Professor levels.
