Subject: NEW BOOK SERIES: Routledge Applied English Language Introductions

Routledge Applied English Language Introductions is a series of practical and
accessible textbooks which introduce spoken and written English for a specific
discipline.

The books in the series are targeted at courses run by English departments
that run courses for students in other departments (science, medicine,
business, communication, media etc.) with the aim to improve both written and
spoken English; the markets for these can be found in Asia (Hong Kong,
Pakistan, India), Middle East, South Africa, Australia, Scandinavia.

The books are aimed at university level students who usually have a good grasp
of English but need to refine it for their chosen field and professional
career. Elements that need to be covered are academic writing, email
communication, presentations, writing up reports, application/finding a job
advice etc. These textbooks need to be very practical and should ideally have
a word count between 70,000 and 80,000 words.

It is essential that the text be written with the target audience in mind.
Authors will need to make a conscious effort to ensure that the text is
accessible to students whose first language is not English. With this in mind,
it is important that prospective authors have experience in teaching relevant
courses, and ideally, they will have experience writing books aimed at
students.
