Description:

The Joint Artificial Intelligence Institute at Bielefeld and Paderborn
University has open positions in a new project on the "SustAInable Life-cycle
of Intelligent Socio-Technical Systems”: SAIL (jaii.eu/sail/). The project
addresses fundamental research in sustainable AI, its implications from the
perspective of social sciences, linguistics and the humanities, and the
specific application domains industry 4.0 and intelligent healthcare.

We are looking for a junior research group leader in (Computational)
Linguistics (see https://jaii.eu/sail/#r1.ling.jrg)

Your Tasks: 
In particular, the following research tasks (100 %) will be carried out in the
project:
 - development of a research agenda at the intersection of linguistics and AI
 - interdisciplinary research on longitudinal analysis of language data
 - collaboration within the network (with researchers from computer science,
the humanities, sociology, psychology) on aspects of sustainable AI
 - collaboration with research projects and initiatives at the faculty of
linguistics and literatures studies
 - publication and presentation of research results at high-impact
international conferences and in journals
 - supervision of a research project on the modeling of language change or
language varieties
 - collaboration in the conception and realization of scientific events within
the research network
     
Your Profile: 
We expect: 
 - scientific degree in linguistics, computational linguistics, computer
science, cognitive science, data science or related areas
 - completed PhD in linguistics, computational linguistics or a related area
 - excellent skills in quantitative methods, statistical modeling or methods
in machine learning
 - very good analytical and conceptual skills
 - communicative and team-oriented style of work
 - strong organizational and coordination skills
 - independent, self-reliant and dedicated style of work
 - interest in interdisciplinary research cooperation
 - very good English skills (oral and written)
 - strong interest in societal aspects of AI and questions of sustainable AI

Preferred experience and skills: 
 - experience in interdisciplinary research teams
 - experience with student supervision
