Description:

The University of Nova Gorica has a vacancy for the position of post-doctoral
researcher at the rank of Assistant with Phd or Assistant Professor in
psycholinguistics and experimental syntax.

The work will be conducted in the Center for Cognitve Science of Language. The
successful candidate will participate in designing sentence comprehension,
sentence production and large-scale acceptability judgment experiments
involving speakers of various Slavic languages, in particular Bulgarian,
Russian and Slovenian as well as in statistical analysis of their results and
preparation of publishable reports. S/he will join the research group working
on a project co-funded by the Slovenian Research Agency and Swiss National
Science Foundation and led by prof. dr. Penka Stateva (U. of Nova Gorica) and
prof. dr. Julie Franck (U. of Geneva). The candidate may also be asked to take
over moderate teaching and administrative obligations in the university's
linguistics programs.

The successful candidate will be employed on a full-time basis for a fixed
term of one year (if additional funding is secured, there may be a possibility
to renew for a second year). The expected start date is October 17, 2022.

If the candidate holds a valid title of assistant professor and they submit
evidence of this, employment at the rank of assistant professor will be
considered.

To be considered for the position, candidates should have:
 - a PhD in linguistics or a related field (e.g., psychology, cognitive
science, etc.),
 - a strong background in theoretically-grounded experimental linguistics,
psycholinguistics or cognitive science,
 - ability to work independently as well as in a team taking on an active role
in organizing and conducting behavioural experiments and in recruiting child
and adult participants,
 - knowledge and proven experience in using up-to-date statistical methods of
data analysis (in particular, R),
 - a fluent command of one or more Slavic language (C1 or C2) and English,
 - excellent communication skills.

The following will be considered advantages:
 - proven research experience or an active research agenda that concerns the
relevant linguistic domains,
 - experience with modern online participant recruitment and behavioral
experimentation platforms.
