Required Language(s): English (eng)

Description:

HiringBranch (formerly LearningBranch) is developing assessments that enable
recruiters to make quick decisions about the communication skills of potential
candidates.

Our No-Interview Hiring solution is used by global enterprises to fill
high-volume positions in customer service, sales and other frontline roles.
The assessment accurately evaluates candidates’ language proficiency (fluency,
grammar, complexity) in speaking, writing, listening and reading, as well as
their ability to use foundational soft skills when interacting with a
customer. Foundational soft skills include acknowledging, reassuring and other
skills. The assessments place candidates in typical workplace conversational
situations where they must respond, using voice or writing.

The company is looking for a researcher to help us identify and collect
linguistic templates that are indicative of specific soft skills within a
corpus of spoken and written responses.
More specifically you will:
 - Create a corpus from a rich in-house collection of spoken and written
interactions
 - Define the linguistic characteristics of different soft skills
 - Look for different manners by which the soft skills are linguistically
expressed within the corpus
 - Phrase the linguistic templates that encapsulate the soft skills
 - Work closely with NLP and ML engineers to develop rule-based and
machine-learning-based modules to identify and predict the performance of soft
skills within spoken and written inputs.

We are looking for candidates with a strong background in pragmatics /
sociolinguistics / language-based psychology who have knowledge of the
existing literature in the field. The prospective candidate should have
extraordinary analytic skills and critical thinking. Experience in creating
free context grammars or in NLP methods is an advantage.

Preference given to researchers working in Canada.
