Subject: Hexatomic 1.0 - extensible multi-layer annotation software for linguistic corpora

Hexatomic is an extensible multi-layer annotation tool for linguistic corpora.

It is compatible with the ANNIS search and analysis platform, and supports
import from and export to many linguistic data formats. Additionally, it
supports arbitrary annotation types through its generic graph-based data
model.

Hexatomic has been designed for usability, features different editor types
(e.g., span editor, graph editor), as well as search and filtering
capabilities, and comes with extensive documentation
(https://hexatomic.github.io/hexatomic/user/v1.0/). It enjoys long-term
support through a dedicated Research Software Engineering position at the
corpus linguistics working group at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin.

Hexatomic is available for Linux, Windows and MacOS. You can download it here:
https://github.com/hexatomic/hexatomic/releases/latest (just unpack the zip
file and run Hexatomic). It is free and open source software, licensed under
Apache-2.0. The source code is available at
https://github.com/hexatomic/hexatomic.

Hexatomic has been developed in the research project "A minimal infrastructure
for the sustainable provision of extensible multi-layer annotation software
for linguistic corpora". The project was funded under Deutsche
Forschungsgemeinschaft's call "Research Software Sustainability", grant number
391160252, and ran from October 2018 until December 2021. You can find out
more about the project at https://hexatomic.github.io/.

We invite you to try Hexatomic, and join the Hexatomic Users mailing list
(https://sympa.cms.hu-berlin.de/sympa/info/hexatomic-users). If you have
feature requests or find a bug, please refer to the "Getting help" section of
the documentation
(https://hexatomic.github.io/hexatomic/user/v1.0/troubleshooting) or create a
new issue on the GitHub repository:
https://github.com/hexatomic/hexatomic/issues/new/choose.

Happy annotation!
The Hexatomic Team
