Meeting Description:

AIDA (Association Internationale de Dialectologie Arabe), founded in
1992, in Paris, with the aim to encourage and promote the study of
Arabic dialects, is nowadays the leading international association in
this field of research and it has become a center that joins scholars
from all over the world who are interested in any aspect of Arabic
dialectology, including, among other topics, hitherto undescribed
dialects, dialectal geography, specific aspects of phonology,
morphology and syntax, code-switching, Arabic-based koiné languages,
pidgins and creoles, the lexicon of Arabic dialects, dialect atlases,
comparative and diachronic studies, sociolinguistics, and the teaching
of Arabic dialects. AIDA organises conferences every two years, which
are hosted by prestigious universities all around the world.

This conference will be held in English and a number of selected
sessions will be in French and Arabic.

Call for Papers:

Abstracts must be sent by e-mail (including author’s name, complete
affiliation and position) – as both .doc /.docx and .pdf documents to
aida2024 at um.edu.mt. When sending the abstract, kindly include the
names of all the authors, their complete affiliations and positions.
Papers must present original and innovative research. The text of each
abstract – written in Arabic, English or French and not exceeding 300
words – should clearly highlight the results of the research to be
presented in the paper and their context. Selection and acceptance of
the papers will be communicated by 15 December, 2023. The abstracts of
the accepted communications will be published in the abstract booklet
of the conference.
