Meeting Description:

The third Central Asia Language and Education Conference (CALE) will be hosted
by KIMEP University in Almaty, Kazakhstan on May 18-19, 2023. This conference
welcomes researchers working on language education, sociolinguistics,
linguistics, second language acquisition, TESOL, and related disciplines.
Although the conference overall has a special interest in how issues of
language and language education play out in Central Asia, papers do not need
to be related to Central Asia, and researchers do not need to be based in the
region. The theme of this year’s conference is “Language Education for Peace
and Equality”.


Call for Papers:

Abstract submissions are invited to the third Central Asia Language and
Education Conference (CALE) to be hosted by KIMEP University in Almaty,
Kazakhstan, offline/in person on May 18-19, 2023. 
 
This conference welcomes researchers working on language education,
sociolinguistics, linguistics, second language acquisition, TESOL, and related
disciplines.  Although the conference overall has a special interest in how
issues of language and language education play out in Central Asia, papers do
not need to be related to Central Asia, and researchers do not need to be
based in the region. The theme of this year's conference is “Language
education for Peace and Equality.” Papers are encouraged to address this theme
but not required.
 
Papers presented at the conference will be eligible for publication in
Language, Culture, Environment journal (https://www.kimep.kz/lcej/).
Presenters may also choose to submit their work to CALE conference
proceedings, to be published in fall 2023. 
 
Abstracts should be a maximum of 250 words (including any references) and
submitted in .pdf, .doc, or .docx format to cale.conference at kimep.kz by 23:59
on January 15, 2023, East Kazakhstan Time (GMT +6). Please see our website for
