Special Qualifications: Linguistics coursework in Phonology, Morphology, and Phonetics are recommended. Experience with Indigenous Language research and or typology are a plus. Also using Praat, Audacity, Google Sheets, Excel, SIL Fieldworks and/or Tshwane-Lex are beneficial. Attention to detail, ability to work in teams and taking initiative are required. 


Description:
TLC, a nonprofit organization based in Bloomington, IN works closely with
Indigenous tribes and Nations in the US, Canada, Australia and Mexico.
Together with the communities we develop best practice methods, resources, and
models to create language-learning materials and resources in line with
specific cultural and social needs. Read more at

This is an ideal position for someone looking to gain hands-on experience with
linguistic data processing and the work of a nonprofit organization. Work will
include audio cutting, entry, analysis, and organization of collected data.
Interns will work closely with our linguistic, textbook, and app development
teams to steer all projects towards being culturally relevant and valuable
tools for the learner communities such as extensive dictionaries, language
learning textbooks, apps, and other media projects.

Experience with Indigenous Language research and or typology are a plus. Also
using Praat, Audacity, Google Drive (sheets, docs, slides etc), Microsoft
office (excel, word, ppt etc), FLEX/Toolbox, Tshwane-Lex and/or other
dictionary management software are beneficial. Attention to detail, ability to
work in teams and taking initiative are required.
