Meeting Description:

The aim of the twelfth edition of the conference ''The Language in the Third
Millennium'' is to integrate the international scholarly community and to
debate the most current theoretical issues and the practical dimension of
broadly understood communication: interpersonal, social, inter-linguistic and
intercultural.

The organisers of the conference put the main emphasis on the
interdisciplinary nature of communication, in particular on the relationship
of language with other areas of life and scholarship. The multidimensionality
of communication, be it verbal, non-verbal, para-verbal, multimodal or visual,
contributes to the discussion on the role, function and form of language in
the contemporary world.

The event is addressed primarily to linguists, communicators, translators,
modern philologists and other researchers in related fields, including PhD
students. The conference is also open to practitioners who wish to join in the
study of language, translation, intercultural communication or foreign
language teaching.

The purpose of the conference is to present scholarly achievements,
disseminate research results and discuss the findings. It is perceived as
constituting a bridge between theory and practice, and hence the planned
workshops addressed to students:

1 / Translator for social integration - sign language (or audiodescription)
workshop
2 / Success in communication: how to speak so that we are heard and
understood.

Languages of the conference: Polish and English.

Call for Papers:

The papers should be 20 minutes long plus 10 minutes should be allowed for
discussion. Posters are also welcome.

Papers to be presented in Polish will have a extensive summary provided in
English. The slides could be prepared in English too.

Deadline for abstract submissions: 20 January 2022 (EXTENDED DEADLINE -
electronic submissions)

Submission acceptance: 30 January 2022
Conference registration (payment): 15 February 2022
Deadline for submitting articles to Tertium Linguistic Journal (to be
published in 2022) 30 April 2022

Conference presentations and posters will contribute to special issues of
Tertium Linguistic Journal (https://journal.tertium.edu.pl/) - the journal is
listed in various international indexes. We prefer articles in English, but
you can also publish in Polish.

The presenters on humour-related topics will be encouraged to submit articles
to our other journal: The European Journal of Humour Research
(http://www.europeanjournalofhumour.org - a Scopus-indexed international
journal.

If the number of the submitted articles will be too large for the journal
issues, we are also planning to publish a Polish-language volume of articles
as well (Tertium Publishing House is recognised by the Polish Ministry of
Education and Science as a category I publisher).

We accept for publication those articles that fit in the broad main topic of
the conference and comply with the editorial guidelines provided on the
websites of our journals as well as on our website (in the case of the
post-conference volume).
