Meeting Description:

Dear colleagues,

We are happy to invite interested researchers working on regional and minority
languages or languages in education to our International Academic Conference
''Regional Languages in Education: from Literature towards Literacy''. It will
take place from 16 - 17 June 2022 at Rēzekne Academy of Technologies,
Atbrīvošanas aleja 115, in the city of Rēzekne in the highly multilingual and
multiethnic region of Latgale in Eastern Latvia.

The aim of the conference is to exchange experiences with regional and other
lesser-used languages and their education. We will discuss approaches to the
acquisition of regional languages and compare experiences and research
perspectives of different regional language contexts in Europe and beyond.
We will be thrilled to see researchers and educational staff from different
regional language settings to present their abstracts and discuss, in
particular, the diverse perspectives of language learners, their wishes and
motivation. We would also love to hear your thoughts and opinions about
related topics, which will be addressed during the conference.

The conference is planned to take place on campus in Rēzekne in the region of
Latgale in Eastern Latvia. Covid-19 pandemic safety regulations will be in
place according to the local pandemic situation in June 2022 (distance rules,
standard hygienic measures, access to the conference premises only for
vaccinated people, possibly obligations to wearing masks or testing).
Depending on the situation in Latvia, the options of holding the conference
remotely or in a 'hybrid' model will be considered. Decisions will be taken on
short notice.
