Meeting Description: 

Vom 18.-19. Juli 2022 findet an der Universität zu Köln der 7. Internationale
Workshop aus der Reihe Germanistische Linguistik zwischen Köln und Tokio
(GAKT) statt. Wie auch seine Vorgänger wird der Workshop in Kooperation mit
der Universität Tokio (Lehrstuhl Prof. Dr. Yoshiki Mori) ausgerichtet, und vom
Institut für deutsche Sprache und Literatur I, Abteilung Sprachwissenschaft 
der Universität zu Köln (Lehrstuhl Prof. Dr. Klaus von Heusinger) und dem SFB
1252 ''Prominence in Language'' organisiert.

Der Workshop bietet Doktorand*innen und Postdoktorand*innen der Universität
Tokio und der Universität zu Köln unter dem Titel „Strukturen und
Interpretationen“ die Gelegenheit, ihre aktuellen Forschungsarbeiten aus der
Germanistischen und Allgemeinen Sprachwissenschaft vorzustellen. Die Vorträge
werden dabei jeweils durch einen Kommentar von erfahrenen
Wissenschaftler*innen ergänzt, so dass direkt ein intensiver
wissenschaftlicher Austausch angeregt wird. Dieses diskursive Format bietet
den Referent*innen Anstöße zur Weiterentwicklung ihrer Arbeiten.

On July 18-19, the 7th international workshop ''Germanistische Linguistik
zwischen Köln und Tokio'' (GAKT) will take place at University of Cologne. As
in previous instances of the format, the workshop is organized in cooperation
with the University of Tokyo (chair of Prof. Yoshiki Mori) by the linguistics
section of the department for German language and literature I (chair of Prof.
Klaus von Heusinger) and the CRC 1252 ''Prominence in Language''. 

Under the heading of ''structures and interpretations'', the workshop offers
PhDs and postdocs from the universities of Tokyo and Cologne an opportunity to
present their ongoing research in German and general linguistics. Each talk is
accompanied by a commentary provided by a more experienced researcher in order
to directly instigate active scientific discussion and mutual engagement. In
this way, the discursive format aims to offer speakers avenues for future
development of their work.
