Description:

The Faculty of Modern Languages at Heidelberg University invites applications
for the position of: W3 Professorship in English Linguistics (f/m/d)

The position is to be filled at the earliest possible starting date.

Candidates should be able to represent the discipline of English linguistics
in research and teaching (BA and MA) in its entirety. The scope of the
position covers English linguistics, including structural and functional
approaches. Candidates should have a strong research background in
Sociolinguistics. A second research focus in one of the following fields is
expected: English Varieties, Dialogue Analysis, Corpus Linguistics and
Cognitive Linguistics. In addition, candidates should be able to contribute to
the field of Digital Humanities. Previous experience in university teaching
and academic self-governance is required. The successful candidate is expected
to apply for third-party funding and to collaborate with colleagues in the
Faculty of Modern Languages and in other faculties.

Prerequisites for employment are a University degree, a doctorate of
outstanding quality and successful teaching experience. A lecturer
qualification (habilitation) or a successfully evaluated junior professorship
or equivalent qualifications (comparable to tenure requirements at
international research universities) is an additional requirement (in
accordance with article 47, paragraph 2 of the Higher Education Law of the
state of Baden-Württemberg).
