Meeting Description:

The SLC Comittee will hold its fourth international conference on September,
29 - October 1, 2022 online. The theme of this conference is a synergistic
approach to language and culture as a highly complex self-developing system,
since it is in constant motion and self-development and functions on the basis
of many parameters, being a discursive, culturological, socio-cultural system.
Synergetic analysis of the dichotomy of language and culture allows you to
gain new knowledge about meaning formation, about the organization of
communicative processes, as well as about the methodology of teaching foreign
languages.

The conference plans to offer comprehensive research presentations of any
linguistics branches from all over the world so as to deepen and widen our
perspectives on how to give explanations to linguistic phenomena. We encourage
you to join us as a presenter to make the conference fruitful.

The conference is dedicated to a discussion of the following topics:
- Translation, translation studies and methods of teaching translation
- Interaction of language and culture: linguistic and cultural studies
- Dialogue of languages and cultures in the era of globalisation
- Modern innovative approaches to the study of language
- Applied linguistics
- Problems of contemporary language education
- Continuing education programmes in translation and distance learning
- Problems of communication and the language of modern media
- The Arctic as a modern sociolinguistic space

The list of topics can be expanded.


Call for Papers:

We welcome proposals in all areas of linguistics and culture studies.
Abstracts dealing with any aspect of the conference theme are invited.
Abstracts should not exceed 2 pages in each language (Russian and/or English)
including a bibliography and are expected to follow academic conventions.
Please provide from 5 to 10 key words in alphabetical order to facilitate
scheduling of the sessions. Typesetting requirements: Times New Roman, size
12, line spacing 1.0., margin 2 cm. For the full call for papers, visit:

Forms of participation in the conference
- full-time participation with a keynote address or panel paper (to be
published in the collection);
- full-time participation without a paper;
- holding a round table
- absentee participation in the conference (including publication).

Plenary session paper - 50 minutes, followed by a Q&A session. Panel
presentation - 15 minutes + discussion.

Paper Submission deadline (collection of papers to be indexed in the RSCI
bibliographic database, in Russian or English): 31 October 2022

Registration fee
The registration fee for participation in the conference is:
- for foreign participants: 3,500 RUR.
- for participants from Russia and CIS countries: 2,500 RUR.
- for staff of St Petersburg University: 1,500 RUR.
- for students (undergraduates, graduate students): 1,000 RUR.

Each participant of the conference, including the co-authors of the speakers,
must pay a registration fee.

The registration fee includes participation in the conference, workshops, a
certificate and also covers the costs of publishing an article in the
collection, The Synergy of Languages and Cultures: Interdisciplinary Studies
included in the Russian Science Citation Index (RSCI).
