Meeting Description:

In the last decades, small minority languages in Europe and their
multilingualism have repeatedly been the subject of comparative descriptions
(on German-speaking Minorities see a.o. Eichinger, Plewnia & Riehl 2008; Riehl
& Knipf-Komlósi 2011; Beyer & Plewnia 2021). In Italy, increasing attention
has been paid to this topic resulting in various research projects which have
investigated (a) the linguistic aspects of these languages from both a
theoretical and historical perspective, (b) how to maintain the language
through school teaching; (c) legal issues concerning the rights of the
minority communities. This workshop offers the opportunity to present the
results of this diverse research activity. Topics: Linguistics, German
studies, German-speaking minorities, language contact; Education in
German-based minority languages; Legal aspects and language policy for
German-speaking minorities. The workshop is organized in two main sections:
section 1., on 6th October, is dedicated to projects on the German-speaking
minorities in Italy from the above-mentioned thematic areas; section 2., on
7th October, will widen the perspective to German-speaking minorities in
Europe and around the world in relation to the same topics (a)-(c).

Riehl 2008; Plewnia & Riehl 2018; Beyer & Plewnia 2021). In Italia, sono stati
avviati diversi progetti e ricerche sulle lingue delle comunità alloglotte
germanofone.
Temi: linguistica, germanistica, minoranze linguistiche
germanofone, contatto linguistico; apprendimento/insegnamento, promozione e
stessi temi.

In den letzten zwei Jahrzehnten waren kleine Minderheitensprachen in Europa
und ihr Multilinguismus immer wieder Gegenstand komparatistischer
Beschreibungen (zu den deutschsprachigen Minderheiten vgl. u.a. Eichinger,
Plewnia & Riehl 2008; Riehl & Knipf-Komlósi 2011; Plewnia & Riehl 2018; Beyer
& Plewnia 2021).
rechtlichen Fragen. Der internationale Workshop bietet die Möglichkeit, die
Ergebnisse dieser vielfältigen Forschungstätigkeit zu präsentieren.
Themenbereiche: (a) Linguistik, Germanistik, deutschsprachige Minderheiten,
