Meeting Description:

The Graduate Student Network of the Faculty of Arts' Language, Communication
and Culture Signature Research Area at the University of Alberta in Edmonton,
Canada is pleased to announce its second Conference for Graduate Students in
Language, Communication and Culture! The LCC Graduate Student Network welcomes
graduate student applicants from all over the world working on any language(s)
and/or culture(s). There is no cost to register or attend this conference,
which will be hosted virtually.


Final Call for Papers:

Deadline extended to 26 June, 2022

We invite abstract submissions for academic presentations that focus on
language, communication, and culture in fields such as (but not limited to):

- Linguistics
- Language Education
- Society and Language
- Psychology of Language
- Business Communication
- Linguistic Anthropology
- Health Communication
- Communication Sciences
- Speech Language Pathology
- Language Related Social Sciences
- Endangered Languages
- Indigenous Languages

Language Considerations:
As a Canadian university, we recognize that French and English are our
institutional languages, and the importance of Indigenous languages spoken
across Canada. Our international graduate student conference welcomes
contributions on all languages and/or cultures. The working language of our
conference and the language for all contributions is English. Yet, we strongly
encourage the participation of speakers of languages other than English.
Depending on the number and type of submissions we receive, we may offer the
opportunity to present in other languages.

Important Dates:
Conference: Wednesday, August 17 & Thursday, August 18, 2022
Abstract Submission Deadline: Sunday, June 26, 2022
Notification of Acceptance: Early July

Submission Guidelines:

Academic presentations will be 15 minutes in length, followed by a 5-minute
discussion period. Abstract submissions should meet the following formatting
requirements:

- Email Subject Line: “2022 Abstract Submission”
- Abstracts should be uploaded as PDF attachments.
- Abstracts must not exceed the 250-word limit.
- Abstract titles, references, and keywords should be clearly indicated.
- Use 12-point font size, and 1-inch margins on all sides of the document.
- Additional figures may be included in addition to the main abstract text.

Abstracts will undergo blind peer-review. Acceptance is based on quality of
content, originality, relevance, and academic significance.
