Subject: Survey on Language Attitudes in Appalachia

Hello! You are invited to participate in a survey on attitudes toward language
in Appalachia. This survey is for anyone ages 18 and up.

My name is Hannah Catron, and I am a PhD candidate in Linguistics at the
University of South Carolina. I am conducting this study under the supervision
of faculty advisor, Dr. Elaine Chun.

This survey will gather data about attitudes towards Appalachian voices. You
will be asked to listen to two short audio samples and give your opinion on
the people speaking in the samples. The survey will take about 15 minutes to
complete. No compensation is provided.

Participation is anonymous, which means that no one (not even the research
team) will know who you are.
If you would like more information, please send an email to:
hmcatron at email.sc.edu or chune at mailbox.sc.edu. If you would like to
participate in the study, please follow this link:

Feel free to share this survey with friends and family members, and thanks for
your time!
