Linguistic Field(s): Applied Linguistics

Call Deadline: 11-Apr-2022

Meeting Description:

Title of the conference: Enhancing the effectiveness and quality of teaching
and research

Raising the effectiveness and quality of teaching and research has been very
topical all the time. Especially the current situation with pandemic has shown
the downsides of teaching in students’ achievements and lack of research in
teacher effectiveness in 21st century has revealed its consequences. As long
as effective teaching directly impacts students’ academic success, it must be
at the forefront of language education in Central Asia. Current research and
practice in the language teaching field have to adjust to the rapid changes
around us, considering online and offline modes of education. Lack of
understanding about teacher effectiveness in the classroom in both formats, we
as educators lose our students’ attention, underestimate their learning
capacities and life skills. While the western education system considers
acquiring 21st-century skills for students and teachers, we should try to
catch up with the developments. For that reason, this conference encourages
educators to submit papers focusing on the best works in research and
practice. The conference aims to set the bridges that will contribute to a
constructive dialogue in Central Asia. It also brings together teachers and
researchers not only from Central Asia, but also from other parts of the world
to enhance current knowledge and practice regarding language education.

The conference might be of interest of local and international teachers and
academics in:

- Higher Education Institutions
- Primary and Secondary Education
- Private Educational Institutions
- Curricular and material developers
- Testing and Assessment organizations
- Master and PhD students
- Relevant Ministries and centers
- International organizations focusing on language education.

The conference accepts original research and practice-based papers (not
presented before) related to
applied linguistics and language education on the following topics (but not
limited to):

- Foreign language acquisition
- Issues in language testing and assessment
- Modern trends in language education
- Curriculum and instruction
- ESP/EAP
- Language policy and planning
- Pragmatics
- Discourse analysis
- Issues in translation
