Description:

Consultant positions available for linguists with a BA or MA in Linguistics in
Ukrainian.

Productive Playhouse, a professional production and language services company
in Los Angeles, is currently undertaking language and linguistics focused
projects for a range of locales which will contribute to a broader body of
speech technology. For this, we are seeking native speakers with formal
linguistic experience or qualifications to carry out these tasks. Candidates
should be able to commit at least 20 hours per week, with the project being
expected to last for approximately 3 months, with the possibility of further
extension.
All work is carried out online and can be done remotely from anywhere.

Responsibilities:
 - Linguists will provide both general linguistic expertise and
language-specific guidance as needed. 
 - Linguists will be asked to transcribe and/or verify pronunciations in a
web-based tool, according to language-specific phonemic transcription
guidelines.
 - Linguists will be asked to work on annotating homographs.
 - Linguists may be required to periodically conduct internet research for
evidence of speech acts
 - Linguists may be asked to work on text normalization and verbalization
tasks.

Linguist Qualifications:
 - Native-speaker of Ukrainian
 - Professional working proficiency in English
 - Formal education (preferably at Graduate level) in Linguistics or Language
Sciences, with a focus on Phonetics and Phonology
 - Academic and general research capabilities
 - Excellent oral and written communication skills
 - Good organizational skills and attention to detail
 - Ability to quickly grasp technical concepts
