Meeting Description:

The Australian Association of Teachers of Korean (AUATK) organises the Third
AUATK International Conference and Teacher Workshop, to be held on December
15-17th 2022 at the University of Western Australia, Perth. The event is
generously supported by the Academy of Korean Studies (AKS-2022-C005) and the
Korean Education Centre in Australia.

The 2022 conference theme will be Post-Pandemic Korean Language Education. The
event organisers aim to capitalise on the lessons learned during the Covid-19
pandemic, foster reflections about alternative forms of effective Korean
language teaching, and promote research-based and technology-supported
methodologies to improve Korean language education. Proposals also dealing
with other aspects of Korean language and culture education and Korean applied
linguistics will be considered.

Australian Association of Teachers of Korean

“Post-pandemic Korean language education”

The Australian Association of Teachers of Korean (AUATK) invites individual
abstracts, panel, and workshop presentation proposals from established
scholars, early career researchers, postgraduate students, and Korean language
education practitioners for the Third AUATK International Conference and
Teacher Workshop, to be held on December 15-17th 2022 at the University of
Western Australia, Perth. The event is generously supported by the Academy of
Korean Studies (AKS-2022-C005) and the Korean Education Centre in Australia.

The 2022 conference theme will be Post-Pandemic Korean Language Education. The
event organisers aim to capitalise on the lessons learned during the Covid-19
pandemic, foster reflections about alternative forms of effective Korean
language teaching, and promote research-based and technology-supported
methodologies to improve Korean language education. Proposals also dealing
with other aspects of Korean language and culture education and Korean applied
linguistics will be considered. The 2022 event will feature research
presentations on Day 1 (December 16) and hands-on workshop-style presentations
on Day 2 (December 17). 

The event organisers will provide:
- Twin-share room accommodation for three nights to all participants.
- Welcome reception on December 15.
- Lunch on December 16 & 17.
- Conference dinner on December 16.
- Travel support grants will be available for school teachers and MA/PhD
students participating in the event. The number and amount of travel grants
will depend on final funding availability. Priority in assigning travel grants
will be given to participants based in Australia.

The organisers will waive the conference registration fees for all
participants. However, participants will be required to be AUATK members for
2022 or to join the association upon participating in the event (membership
fee is A$40 for academics and teachers, and A$20 for Ma/PhD students). Details

Key Dates:

Submission deadline: July 30, 2022.
Notification of abstract proposal outcomes: August 15, 2022.
Delegates' arrival: December 15, 2022.
International conference presentations: December 16, 2022.
Teaching workshop presentations: December 17, 2022.

Submission of proposals and participant application
Application to participate and present in the event can be submitted online at
the link below, also available on the AUATK website (www.auatk.com.au). 

Application and proposal submission 
The organisers accept proposals for research presentations (December 16) and
workshop presentations (December 17).  An AUATK review panel will assess all
proposals. Research presentations will be limited to 20 minutes + 10 minutes
for discussion. Workshop presentations will be limited to 45 minutes.

Instructional video contest
The leading up to the event will feature a Korean language educational video
contest. This contest showcases best pedagogical practices in blending
technology and Korean language instruction. All presenting and non-presenting
participants are eligible to submit an instructional video. 
To enter the video contest, please fill out the event participation form at
then link above, then send a link to download your video to auatk21 at gmail.com
by October 30.
The winner will be announced before the event, receive a travel grant up to
A$900, and be asked to deliver a workshop presentation on December 17. Further
