Subject: Recruiting Linguists for Research Study

Greetings!
We’re conducting a research study recruiting linguists who speak a first
language other than English. This online study takes approximately 30 minutes
to complete, and each participant receives a $25 Amazon gift card for
participation.

You are eligible to participate in this study if:
- You have at least a masters degree in linguistics or a closely related
field.
- You are fluent in English.
- You started learning one of the following languages before the age of 5, and
are fluent (speaking, reading, and writing) in that language:
- an indigenous language of North America, Central America, or South America
- Basque
- Georgian
- Hebrew
- Telugu
- Thai

Please note that we are only recruiting speakers of the languages listed
above.

In the survey, you will be asked to translate some short sentences from
English into another language that you know well, and to provide word-for-word
English translations. You’ll also be asked to answer a set of simple questions
about this language. After the survey, you’ll also be asked to complete a
basic demographics form.

If you are interested in participating and you meet the eligibility criteria,
please email conceptlab at umich.edu with:
1. the language(s) that you learned before the age of 5 and
2. your highest degree in linguistics (or related field)
and we will let you know if we are still collecting data for your language!

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us (email:
conceptlab at umich.edu). Also, feel free to visit our lab website:
http://sites.lsa.umich.edu/gelman-lab/

To help us spread the word, please share this email with anyone who you think
might be interested.

Thank you, and we look forward to hearing from you!

Sincerely,
Susan Gelman
