Description:

The Department of Modern Languages and Linguistics at the University of
Southampton (http://www.southampton.ac.uk/ml/) invites applications to a
Lectureship in Applied Linguistics ELT/TESOL. This is a teaching and research
post, equivalent to a tenure-track Assistant Professor, available from 1
October 2022 on a permanent basis (salary £39,739-£50,296 per annum, depending
upon experience and qualifications). Applications are invited from scholars
with active research interests and teaching expertise in classroom language
learning, digital education, teacher education and/or language education
policy.

The University of Southampton is a member of the prestigious Russell Group of
24 world-class, research-intensive UK universities. It is ranked 77th in the
QS World University Rankings 2022. The University is one of the leading
centres for languages and linguistics in the UK, currently ranked fifth out of
57 in the UK for the overall research quality (Grade Point Average) in modern

is ranked in the top 5 UK universities.

You must have completed a PhD in a relevant field and show a developing
profile of international excellence in research and publications, together

research-led teaching, supporting the delivery and ongoing development of
undergraduate and postgraduate curricula by delivering high quality courses
that complement and extend the current provision in linguistics. You will lead
and contribute to modules according to your specific areas of expertise,
including modules of our undergraduate programmes and MA programmes in applied
linguistics/English Language Teaching. You will teach students specialising in
applied linguistics as well as those electing to take module options in the
discipline, so the ability to deliver courses that engage the interest of
students from different degree programmes is essential. You will supervise
dissertations at undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral levels and further
support students by acting as a personal academic tutor.

The closing date for applications is midnight Monday 23 May 2022 and it is
anticipated that interviews will take place (in online format) during the week
commencing 27 June. Please apply via the application link below.
