Description:

The Linguistics Program at the University of South Carolina invites
applications and nominations for the position of Director of the Linguistics
Program and Associate or Full Professor. This is a tenured, full-time, faculty
position. The successful candidate will assume the position of Program
Director on July 1, 2023, with the tenured start date as August 16, 2023. We
seek applicants from any area of linguistics. Determined based on
qualifications and area(s) of specialization of the successful candidate, the
possible tenure home will be in a school/department within the College of Arts
and Sciences.

Candidates must have a PhD in Linguistics or a closely related field as well
as a demonstrated record of excellence in research, teaching, and
administration. The successful candidate will teach courses and conduct
research in their area(s) of specialization. The Program Director is expected
to provide visionary leadership to the program, serving as its representative
at the College level. They will promote success in research and teaching,
encourage interdisciplinary collaborations with other units on campus, manage
the program's fiscal resources, coordinate curricular decisions, and foster a
culture of engagement among its faculty, staff, and students. They will also
maintain excellence in their own research, teaching, and service.
