Description:

The University of Nova Gorica has a vacancy for the position of post-doctoral
researcher at the rank of assistant with Phd or assistant professor in
psycholinguistics.

The work will be conducted in the Center for Cognitve Science of Language. The
successful candidate will play a key role in designing and conducting sentence
production and sentence comprehension experiments in Slavic languages,
analysis of their results and preparation of publishable reports. S/he will
join a research group investigating the processing of agreement patterns in
numeral-based noun phrases in Slavic in the context of a project co-funded by
the Slovenian Research Agency and Swiss National Science Foundation, led by
prof. dr. Penka Stateva (University of Nova Gorica) and prof. dr. Julie Franck
(University of Geneva). The candidate may also be asked to take over moderate
teaching and administrative obligations in the university's linguistics
programs.

The successful candidate will be employed on a full-time basis for a fixed
term of one year (pending budgetary approval, there may be a possibility to
renew for a second year). The expected start date is December 12, 2022
(earlier start is also possible).

If the candidate submits evidence of holding a valid title of assistant
professor, employment at this rank will be considered.

To be considered for the position, candidates should have:
 - a PhD in (psycho-)linguistics with a specialization in sentence
comprehension and/or production,
 - a strong background in the morphosyntax of Slavic languages,
 - familiarity with experimental methods of large-scale data collection using
both online participant recruitment platforms and the traditional (offline)
data collection modality,
 - ability to recruit larger groups of speakers of Slavic languages for online
and offline sentence acceptability experiments,
 - fluent command of one or more Slavic languages (C1 or C2) and English,
 - ability to work both independently and as part of a project team,
 - excellent communication skills.

The following will be considered advantages:
 - a strong publication record or research experience in Slavic
(psycho-)linguistics, in particular as concerns the South Slavic languages,
 - experience using modern online participant recruitment and behavioral
experimentation platforms,
 - knowledge of up-to-date statistical methods of data analysis, including
mixed effects models,
 - knowledge of and/or experience in behavioral psycholinguistic (self-paced
reading, eye-tracking) and neurolinguistic (EEG/ERP) experimental
methodologies,
 - knowledge of Slovenian at the B2 level.
