Description:

Reed College invites applications for a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor
position in Linguistics, with a primary focus in syntax and a secondary focus
in morphology, typology, or semantics, for the 2023-24 academic year, to
commence in August 2023.

Reed is a selective mostly-undergraduate liberal arts institution with a
commitment to excellence in teaching and scholarship. The successful candidate
will teach the morphology, syntax, and semantics modules of our co-taught
introductory course, Introduction to Linguistic Analysis, as well as offering
four upper-division courses, two of which will be Introductory Syntax and
Morphosyntactic Typology. The candidate will also supervise year-long senior
thesis projects on an array of topics within linguistics.

Candidates with expertise in field methods and the structure of understudied
languages and language families are particularly encouraged to apply.
Experience in teaching and advising student research projects is also highly
desirable. PhD or ABD in Linguistics required for appointment.

paper from a conference proceedings, or dissertation chapter). Please also
arrange to have three letters of recommendation submitted on your behalf. In
your letter of application please address the following:
 - Your scholarly interests.
 - Teaching experience, and any experience mentoring students or advising
student research projects.
 - Teaching interests: Identify any existing courses from our catalog that you
would be interested in teaching, and also describe one or two new courses that
you could offer.
