Call for Proposals

The objective of Routledge’s newly developed Multiliteracies and Second
Language Education series is to explore different aspects of the incorporation
of the multiliteracies framework (The New London Group, 1996) and related
approaches such as Learning by Design (Cope & Kalantzis, 2015; Kalantzis et
al., 2005, 2016, 2019; Zapata, 2017, 2022) into second language instruction.

We are seeking abstracts (maximum of 200 words) for possible book projects.
Potential topics could include, but are not limited to, the following:

- Multiliteracies and second language teacher education
- Multiliteracies and assessment in second language classrooms
- Multiliteracies and online/remote second language learning
- Multiliteracies and content-based second language learning
- Multiliteracies and social justice in second language education
- Multiliteracies and materials development

Volumes in the series:

--Cope, B., Kalantzis, M., & Zapata, G. C. (Forthcoming). Towards education
justice: Literacy, multiliteracies, and the design of social futures.
--Zapata, G. C. (2022). Learning by Design and second language teaching:
Theory, research, and practice.

Please direct any questions to the series editor, Dr. Gabriela C. Zapata at
Gabriela.Zapata at nottingham.ac.uk.

Submission deadline for abstracts: November 15, 2022

Please email abstract and brief bio (50-75 words) to Gabriela C. Zapata
(Gabriela.Zapata at nottingham.ac.uk). After abstract acceptance, authors will
receive the form to submit their book proposal.

Notification of decision: By December 1, 2022.
