Linguistic Field(s): General Linguistics

Call Deadline: 09-Dec-2022

Meeting Description:

Tu+ is an annual workshop bringing together all aspects of linguistic research
on Turkic languages, as well as languages in contact with Turkic and those
spoken in geographic regions where Turkic languages are.

Tu+ has been the venue for fruitful discussions and new collaborations on
Turkic and languages in contact with Turkic. The first Tu+ was held at UMass
Amherst in 2015, and Indiana University, UCLA & USC, NYU & Rutgers University,
University of Delaware, University of Toronto, and UConn have carried on this
tradition.

The 8th edition of the Workshop on Turkic Languages and Languages in Contact
with Turkic - TU+8- will be hosted in 2022 by Harvard University (Cambridge,
MA). The conference will take place on March 4-5.

Given the existing travel restrictions and COVID-19 concerns, the workshop
will be held in a hybrid format. Any author whose paper is accepted is
guaranteed a choice between presenting their work either in-person or
virtually. There will be camera equipment onsite which will provide the
ability to stream in-person events live, and enable both in-person and virtual
attendees to participate in discussions.

We encourage submissions of work in all the fields of linguistics, including
but not limited to syntax, semantics, pragmatics morphology, phonology,
phonetics, sociolinguistics, historical linguistics, and all relevant
interfaces. There will be oral presentations (20 min talk + 10 min questions)
and a poster session. Since 2019, all works presented at Tu+ have been invited
to be in a proceedings volume distributed by the Linguistic Society of
America, and the 2023 workshop will be no exception to that.

Important dates:
Abstract submission deadline: December 9, 2022
Notification for acceptance: January 9, 2023
Conference dates: March 4-5, 2023

The keynote speakers will be announced later.

You can send an email to us at tuplus8workshop at gmail.com if you have any
questions and/or comments. Please feel free to contact the conference
organizers directly as well:

Hande Sevgi (handesevgi at g.harvard.edu)
Daria Bikina (dbikina at g.harvard.edu)

Call for Papers:

We are excited to announce a call for papers for the Eighth Workshop on Turkic
and Language in Contact with Turkic, Tu+8.

Abstract submissions are open for thirty-minute talks (20-minute + 10-minute
for Q&A session) and poster presentations. All abstracts will be anonymously
peer-reviewed.

Important dates:

Deadline for submission: December 9, 2022

Notification for acceptance: January 9, 2023

Submission guidelines:

Abstracts should contain original research that, at the time of submission,
has neither been published nor accepted for publication.

Abstracts need not contain a fully worked-out analysis; they may describe
either early-stage or in-progress research projects in any field of
linguistics.

Submissions are limited to two abstracts per person: i) one individual
abstract and one joint abstract, or ii) two joint works.

Abstracts, including data and references, should not exceed two letter pages
and should have 1-inch margins on all sides. The font should not be smaller
than 11 pt.

Abstracts should not reveal the identity of the author(s); therefore,
abstracts should not contain excessive references to the publications of the
author(s) or acknowledgments to granting agencies or academic bodies.

Abstracts should be submitted in PDF format through Tu+8 EasyChair page
(https://easychair.org/cfp/tuplus8) by Friday, December 9th, 11:59 pm EST
(Eastern Standard Time).
