Call for Papers:

Dear Authors,

We cordially invite you to contribute a manuscript (empirically driven or
theoretically well-reasoned) to a 2023 special issue of the International
Journal of Language Studies (IJLS) in the area of English language education,
language studies, applied linguistics, language and society, language and
communication, and language and culture. The special issue will be published
in August/September 2023.

Manuscripts should focus on any of the following areas:

- The relationship between diversity, equity, language activism, and social
justice
- Monolingualism, multilingualism (mulitilingualisms), languaging,
translanguaging, and plurilanguaging as constructs that can or cannot promote
equity and social justice
- How new and emerging technologies can promote language activism, language
equity, and social justice OR how the relationship between new and emerging
technologies and language(s) can bring about language equity and social
justice?
- The way in which notions like decolonisation, decoloniality, epistemologies
of the South, southern multilingualisms, indigenisation, and subalternisation
can help achieve social justice and language equity
- How language activism and social activism can influence language equity and
social justice

- Submission of abstracts to guest editors: 07 December 2022
The title of your proposed manuscript and a single-paragraph abstract (150
word maximum) should be submitted as a single MS Word file to Thembeka Shange
at ezengetc at unisa.ac.za copying in Chaka Chaka at chakachaka8 at gmail.com
- Notification of acceptance/rejection to prospective contributors: 20
December 2022
- Prospective contributors submit their individual manuscripts to guest
editors: 15 March 2023
The length of the manuscript is between 7,000 and 8,000 words, including the
reference list
-  The accepted citation and bibliographic style sheet is the APA 7th Edition,
a PDF copy of which is available at: APA style guide
The IJLS' Author Guidelines copy that contains all the above-cited information
together with the other related manuscript preparation information is
available at: IJLS Author Guidelines
- Submission of contributors' manuscripts to the referees: 30 March 2023
(reviewers then have approximately a month [excluding seasonal holidays] to
review papers. Their feedback should be submitted by 26 April 2023
- Submission of reviews to contributors: 28 April 2023. Contributors must then
send their revised versions to guest editors within 2 weeks (10 May 2023)
-Submission of final manuscripts to the chief editor: 15 July 2023.
