Description:

The Department of Asian Studies at Penn State (University Park) invites
applications for a full-time teaching faculty position in Korean (non-tenure
track) to begin in Fall 2023. This position will be filled at the rank of
Lecturer, Assistant Teaching Professor, or Associate Teaching Professor.

Responsibilities include teaching introductory to advanced Korean language
courses, as well as participation in programmatic service. Teaching load is
six courses per year (usually three courses per semester – standard academic
calendar).

We are seeking applicants with an interest in teaching Korean language courses
and contributing to the growth of Korean Studies on campus.

Minimum requirements include a Master’s degree in Korean pedagogy, second
language acquisition, linguistics, or related discipline, and near-native
ability in Korean, as well as facility in English. Demonstrated excellence in
teaching Korean is preferred. Rank will be determined based on education and
experience.

Evidence of teaching effectiveness is required for higher-level ranks. In
addition, successful candidates must either have demonstrated a commitment to
building an inclusive, equitable, and diverse campus community, or describe
one or more ways they would envision doing so, given the opportunity.

This is a limited-term appointment, with the possibility of annual renewal.
Length of term is determined by rank and qualifications.
