Subject: ReFIND: Relation Extraction Financial Dataset Shared Task at KDF '23

We have opened a shared task on Relation Extraction (RE) using the
newly-released Relation Extraction Financial Dataset (REFinD). We
believe this representative task can encourage researchers and
practitioners to investigate the unique requirements of this
domain-specific task when proposing new solutions for the finance
domain.

Most available large-scale RE datasets are compiled using general
knowledge sources. RE applications in the finance domain present
different challenges in terms of the text types, entities, and
relations of interest. In this challenge, a well-annotated dataset of
entities and relations over eight finance-specific entity-type pairs
generated entirely over financial documents will be provided. The
dataset is composed of about 29K instances and 22 relations, built
using raw text from various Securities and Exchange Commission 10-X
(10-K, 10-Q, etc.) reports of publicly traded companies for the years
2016-2017. We welcome researchers to provide their creative
solutions to address this domain-specific challenge.

The results of this shared task will be presented at the Knowledge
Discovery from Unstructured Data in Financial Services (KDF) workshop
which is collocated with SIGIR 2023. Participating teams will be
invited to submit their system description for publication in the
proceedings of the workshop and prizes will be awarded to the top
teams.
