Meeting Description:

PhD Conference organized by the students of Linguistic Sciences of the
Universities of Bergamo and Pavia.

Call for Papers:

Proposals for interventions and case studies in linguistic and
philological
fields are welcome from doctoral candidates and recent PhD graduates
(within two years of the abstract submission deadline). Proposals may
relate to any language or linguistic variety and should focus on
themes such as:
- Polysemy, ambiguity, vagueness, and figurative language;
- Semantic variations in diachrony;
- Variation in meaning and in the use of lexicon based on context and
textual genre (specialised languages, political discourse, etc.);
- Peculiarities and semantic changes in dialects or alloglot
varieties;
- The relationship between translation and rewriting in ancient and
modern traditions.

Those who are interested may submit an abstract (title, body with a
maximum of 2000 characters including spaces, excluding essential
bibliography) and a brief academic biographical profile (maximum 500
characters, including spaces) in .pdf format by September 30, 2023, to
the email address convegno2024SL at unibg.it. The acceptance
notifications will be sent by October 20, 2023. Proposals may be
submitted in Italian or English. Each speaker will be allotted 20
minutes for their talk, followed by 10 minutes of discussion.
