Chair, School of Humanities

NTU is seeking an accomplished and visionary leader for the position
of Chair, School of Humanities (SoH).

The Chair of the School will hold a concurrent Professorial
appointment. The successful candidate will report to the Dean of the
College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Science (CoHASS) and is
expected to provide leadership and oversight of the academic,
intellectual, strategic and administrative affairs of the School.

As a member of the Executive Committee of CoHASS, the Chair is
expected to work closely with counterparts in the School of Social
Sciences, the Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information, the
School of Art, Design and Media, and other research centres and
institutions to promote the ethos of cross-disciplinary innovation in
research and teaching that is encouraged in NTU.

Requirements
 - Solid experience in academic programmes, and outstanding leadership
and management capabilities. Strong international standing and
(preferred) Asian experience. Excellent ability to communicate and to
work collaboratively with professoriate from various disciplines, and
with the University Administration.
 - An earned doctorate in English, Chinese Studies, Linguistics and
Multilingual Studies, Art History, History and Philosophy and/or in a
cognate discipline and an internationally recognised record of high
impact research and teaching that merits appointment as a full
professor with tenure in the NTU School of Humanities. Strong
analytical thinking, systems thinking, and transdisciplinary thinking;
insightful, visionary, and agile.
 - Passion, energy and ambition to grow SoH to new level of research
and academic excellence. Innovative spirit, strength of character,
superior judgment, and of the highest integrity. Passion for education
and for the shared vision and mission of NTU. Proven track record in
student and postdoctoral supervision and mentoring, pedagogy, and in
implementing new learning technologies. Familiarity with industry
trends. Successful track record in obtaining funding.

Emoluments
NTU Singapore offers a competitive salary commensurate with
qualifications and experience in addition to a comprehensive fringe
benefit package.
