Subject: Seeking participants for dissertation study

Melanie Bernstein, a doctoral student of the German program at
UW-Madison (GNS+), is looking for participants for her dissertation
study, which explores how native and non-native speakers of German and
English perceive facial expression displayed by a German person they
do not know.

Participation consists of completing a survey, which asks a series of
demographic and linguistic background questions and collects
self-ratings (for example, emotional intelligence). Additionally,
participants are asked to ‘read’ and evaluate facial expressions in
photos and videos.

To participate, you need to be a native speaker of American English.
Additionally, you will need a device that can play videos with sound.

Completion of the survey will take approximately 1 hour. To thank you
for your time, you have the chance to enter a lottery for one of five
$25 Amazon gift cards.

For more information and to sign up for the study, please use the
following link:

The survey will be available until the 12th of December 2023.

Feel free to forward and share this information with anyone you know
that fits the participant criteria.
For additional questions or concerns about the study, contact Melanie
directly at mbernstein8 at wisc.edu

Thank you!
