ANGLICA: AN INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF ENGLISH STUDIES is an
open-access, annual, peer-reviewed journal in literary, cultural, and
linguistic studies published both in print and online under the
auspices of the Institute of English Studies, University of Warsaw,
Poland. The journal is indexed in SCOPUS, DOAJ, CEEOL, MLA, BazHum,
EBSCO, MIAR, Index Copernicus, ERIHPLUS, Sherpa Romeo, and included in
the Norwegian Register for Scientific Journals, Series and Publishers.

The editors encourage scholars from across the academy to explore and
provide their unique insight within the suggested thematic focus of
Navigating New Frontiers: New Paradigms in Audiovisual Translation and
Media Accessibility.

In this Thematic Issue (TI) of Anglica. An International Journal of
English Studies, we aim to identify changes in reimagining equality in
access to media and cultural products resulting from a more
comprehensive recognition of the diverse needs of people. We hope that
this TI will be a significant voice in the discourse on audiovisual
translation and accessibility during a time of social and
technological changes as well as the paradigms shifts we experience
these days.

Possible topics include, but are not limited to:
• reviewing new approaches to audiovisual translation (AVT) and media
accessibility
• utilizing new technologies in research on AVT and media
accessibility
• examining the use of accessibility provisions such as audio
description (AD) and subtitles for d/Deaf and hard of hearing (SDH, or
CC) in less typical/non-typical contexts
• investigating the attractiveness and functionality of creative
techniques of audio describing and subtitling for d/Deaf and hard of
hearing
• incorporating new technologies and artificial intelligence (AI) into
the process of translating audiovisual content as well as AD and/or
SDH creation
• addressing emerging trends in the language and translation services
market within the realm of audiovisual translation
• educating future specialists in the field of audiovisual translation
and media accessibility during a paradigm shift.

Papers should be of 6,000 to 8,000 words (maximum) and of high-quality
lively writing, showing evidence of original research, which will
address the propositions put forward above. Prospective contributors
are invited to send the following information to
monika.zabrocka at uj.edu.pl and annaredzioch at uw.edu.pl by April 15,
2024: (a) Authors’ full names, (b) a professional bio of up to 100
words, (c) professional affiliation, (d) the title of your manuscript,
and (e) an abstract of your manuscript (300 words max.).

The timeline for the TI is as follows:
1) Deadline for submission of abstracts: 15 April 2024
2) Notification of acceptance/rejection of abstracts: 30 April 2024
3) Deadline for full articles: 31 October 2024
4) Ongoing blinded, peer-reviews: From 1 December 2024 to 15 February
2025
5) Final version of articles: Due 1 April 2025
6) Tentative publication of TI: September 2025

All papers will be double-blind peer reviewed. Submitted papers should
be original and not under consideration or published elsewhere, and
should be formatted according to the guidelines provided in our style
sheet. Important note: Acceptance of the abstract and full paper does
not ensure acceptance/publication of the manuscript. The final
decision rests on the peer reviewers and the journal editors.
