Meeting Description:

The Spanish and Portuguese Graduate Association at the University of Colorado
Boulder invites you to participate in the 14th Annual Graduate Student
Conference on April 8th, 2023 in Boulder, Colorado. This conference aims to
foster discussions on literature discourses, cultural margins and
transdisciplinary perspectives. The conference program welcomes proposals on
contemporary issues, such as border studies, popular literature/culture,
feminist and queer studies, decoloniality, epistemologies from the South,
language ideologies, hybrid literary and artistic practices. Papers may be
presented in English, Portuguese, or Spanish in their different varieties, and
translingual practices are welcome. The conference committee will organize
panels thematically, including one for undergraduate students.


Call for Papers:

The organizing committee is accepting proposals on, but not limited to, the
following topics, theories, and methodologies:
Critical epistemologies from the global South
Critical race, post-colonial and decolonial studies
Border studies
Critical disability studies
Cultural practices in war and conflict
Feminist, gender, and queer studies
Language attitudes and ideologies
Raciolinguistics
Digital literature
Translation studies
Hybrid linguistic and literary practices
Irruptions against the binary
Indigenous discourses
‘Amefrican’ studies
Peripheral and marginal literatures from Brazil
Afro-Caribbean women’s literature
Critical discourse analysis
Applied linguistics

Submission Guidelines:
Please submit abstracts or panel proposals of 250 words to spga at colorado.edu
by Sunday, March 5, 2023. Include name, institution affiliation, paper title,
and e-mail address.
Paper presentations must not exceed 20 minutes (8 double-spaced pages).
