Meeting Description:

Hunter College School of Arts and Sciences is pleased to present the 3rd
Annual Language Works Conference (LW23) of the MA in Translation &
Interpreting Program (MATI) on April 28th 2023, Friday 10:00-5:00 pm. To be
held on Hunter's home campus in New York City, this first in-person event
since MATI's launch in 2020 will address the theme, Translation, Interpreting,
and the Platform Economy.

The rise of the platform economy continues to have a profound impact on the
translation and interpretation (TI) industry, transforming the way language
services are produced, distributed, and consumed. With the ongoing COVID-19
crisis, we have witnessed an accelerated shift toward digitization and online
modalities at all levels of social and economic engagement. This shift raises
important questions about the nature of language and translation work, with
evolving implications on linguistic equity and language access issues in the
Global North.

The ALW-23 will bring together students, scholars and practitioners to share
their insights and/or research findings on various topics of relevance.
