Subject: Call for Information: Dissertations on World Englishes and English Medium Instruction

Dear all,

Please allow me to introduce ELINET- The Education, Language, and
Internationalisation Network. ELINET was established to provide an
online platform to develop a community of practice of researchers,
practitioners, policy makers, curriculum developers, materials writers
and students to collaborate and share knowledge.

At present, ELINET has two strands: Global Englishes and English
Medium Instruction. Our Global Englishes strand explores the global
spread of the English language and how it functions as a lingua
franca. Such research highlights that, in today’s globalised world,
the needs of English language learners have changed, particularly
those learning to use the English language as a lingua franca. Our EMI
strand explores the growth in the number of non-language subjects
being taught in English around the world, the implementation of EMI
and internationalisation policies, the perceived benefits of EMI at
the national, institutional and individual level, and the number of
challenges associated with EMI.

ELINET’s global team of coordinators regularly upload teaching
resources, webinars, blog/podcast/video interviews with teachers and
researchers, video abstracts of key research papers,
dissertations/theses, funding calls, conferences and events links and
reading lists relevant to the online network.

As our teams prepare for its Global Launch Event and first annual
conference on 13-15 April 2023, we are looking to further develop our
dissertation database. To this end, we are reaching out to all current
and former students who are working or have previously researched in
the fields of Global Englishes and EMI and would like to enhance the
visibility of their research by making their dissertations and theses
available to a larger audience of experts. While these two strands are
the focus on ELINET, we are also accepting contributions from the
fields of TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages), EAP
(English for Academic Purposes), multilingualism, and Translanguaging.

If you are interested in contributing to the dissertation database,
need some clarifications, or would like to know more about ELINET and
its projects, please contact ELINET coordinator Paolo Delogu:

Best regards,
Paolo
