Description:

Applications are invited for the post of Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the
Department of Linguistics. Funds are available on the project, ‘Interactions
between Dynamic Effects and Alternative-Based Inferences in the Study of
Meaning’ (IDEAlISM; https://dynamicalternatives.wordpress.com/), jointly
funded by AHRC and DFG and based in the Department of Linguistics at UCL. The
research team is led by Dr Clemens Steiner-Mayr (Göttingen, Co-PI) and Dr
Yasutada Sudo (UCL, Co-PI) together with four Co-Investigators, Dr Richard
Breheny (UCL), Dr Cornelia Ebert (Frankfurt), Dr Jacopo Romoli (Düsseldorf),
and Dr Markus Steinbach (Göttingen). The postholder will work with the team on
the aims of developing a formal theory of the interaction between dynamic
effects and alternative-based inferences by identifying new theoretical
possibilities and exploring ways to test them against experimental data as
well as data from gesture and sign languages.
