Description:

Under the direction of Prof. Dr. Constanze Weth, the doctoral
researcher will conduct research on Portuguese as a heritage language
in Luxembourg with a focus on written Portuguese in contact with
French, Luxembourgish and German.

The doctoral researcher will conduct research under the guidance of a
supervisory team including local and international experts, with the
aim of studying towards a doctoral degree (cumulative, i.e., based on
peer-reviewed publications) in Linguistics.

The doctoral researcher will build up a corpus of written data in
Portuguese and the contact languages in Luxembourg, French,
Luxembourgish, and German. The researcher will analyze the data with a
focus on grammar and spelling. The research project includes the
collection and analysis of experimental data.

The PhD project is embedded in a larger project at the intersection of
grammar and spelling.

What we expect from you…
 - Master in linguistics, language education or psychology
 - Competence in language variation, heritage language, written
language
 - Competence in corpus linguistics is a plus
 - Competence in statistics is a plus
 - Excellent oral and written competences in Portuguese
 - Excellent oral and written competences in French and / or German
and good competences in the respective other language
 - Excellent written competences in English are a plus
 - The willingness to learn Luxembourgish
