University or Organization: National Science Foundation
Department: Division of Behavioral and Cognitive Sciences (BCS)
Job Location: Virginia, USA
Web Address: https://www.nsf.gov/div/index.jsp?div=BCS
Job Title: Program Director
Job Rank: Other; Program Director

Specialty Areas: Cognitive Science; Discipline of Linguistics; General Linguistics

Description:

The U.S. National Science Foundation’s Division of Behavioral and Cognitive
Sciences (BCS) is hiring a Program Director for the Linguistics Program
(either a permanent or a rotator position). Note that only one Program
Director (either permanent or a rotator) will be hired; applicants who wish to
be considered for both types of position should apply separately for both.

The official job ads containing further details are available via the
application links below.

Rotator/permanent positions are great opportunities for faculty and other
(typically more senior) scientists to play an important role at NSF and for
their disciplines. There are different mechanisms with somewhat different
details, but typically rotators take a leave from their regular faculty
positions for 1-3 years to take on a scientific leadership role for a program
at NSF. See https://beta.nsf.gov/careers/rotator-programs for more information
about NSF rotator positions. (Please note that generally candidates need to be
U.S. citizens, but see the official job ad for full details about
eligibility.)

Applications for the Linguistics openings are currently being accepted until
February 6. Interested applicants can reach out to Mary Paster
(mpaster at nsf.gov) in Linguistics with questions. Anja Lindsley
(alindsle at nsf.gov) is the HR point of contact for the search and can be
contacted with administrative questions.
