FPI 2022 - Call for a research scholarship to carry out the doctoral
thesis in Multimodal Language Acquisition

The research group Group of Prosodic and Gesture Studies  and Prosody
Lab at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra (Barcelona, Catalonia) announces
an opening for a 4-year doctoral support position associated with.the
project "Multimodal Communication (MCOM): The integration of prosody
and gesture in human communication and in language learning"
(PID2021-123823NB-I00), funded by the Spanish Ministry of Science and
Innovation. The goal of the project is to analyze from an experimental
perspective how human prosodic and gesture patterns are integrated in
language and how they can together help boost language learning.

The research scholarship is financed through the Research Personnel
Training program (FPI) of the Spanish Ministry of Science at EC-GREP
group and will lead to the development of a doctoral thesis in the
Department of Translation and Language Sciences at the Universitat
Pompeu Fabra (UPF).

Requirements:
The basic eligibility requirement is a Master’s degree or equivalent.
Preference will be given to applicants with a background on bilingual
language acquisition, phonology, multimodal and acoustic analysis,
experimental design and statistical treatment of data. Applicants
should have a good academic record, a strong motivation to carry out
research, and a good command of English and Catalan, or be ready to
acquire them as soon as possible.
