Meeting Description:

After 7 successful conferences in Bremen, Valletta, Turin, Bratislava and
Kraków, we are happy to hold the 8th Lingwistika Maltija in Bremen again!

The main topic of the conference is ''The next century of Maltese linguistics
''.

Dominique Caubet (Paris)
Reconsidering the Arabic of Pantelleria from its traces in modern Pantesco,
“with a little help from”… Maltese

Andrei Avram (Bucharest)
Thezan’s “Le regole per la lingua maltese” and the historical phonology of
Maltese

Call for Papers:

We are happy to announce the Call for Papers for the 8th International
Conference on Maltese Linguistics. The conference will be jointly organized by
both branches of the Malta Centre; by Raffaello Bezzina (Malta), Michela Vella
(Malta) and Maike Vorholt (Bremen).

We invite abstracts for oral presentations on all topics related to Maltese
linguistics, as well as papers focusing on Maltese in relation to other
languages. 

Abstracts for oral presentations should not exceed 300 words. Each
presentation should be no longer than 30 minutes including time for questions
and/or discussion. The conference language is English.

Abstracts will be reviewed by the programme committee.
Deadline for submission of abstracts: 15 May 2023
Notification of abstract acceptance: 19 June 2023
