Description:

The Department of Linguistics at the University of California,
Berkeley invites applications for a pool of qualified temporary
lecturers and lecturers in lieu of GSI’s to teach Linguistics courses
should an opening arise. Department policy requires instructors to
create and maintain a bCourses (Canvas) site.

Areas of particular current interest are:
 - Introduction to Linguistics
 - Semantics
 - Sociolinguistics

Instructors of Record duties include teaching, holding office hours,
assigning grades, advising students, preparing course materials (e.g.
syllabus), developing exams and/or quizzes, supervising GSIs, and
maintaining a course website.

Lecturer in-lieu-of-GSI’s duties entail leading discussion sections,
field trips, labs, or instruction of prescribed course content, under
the active direction and supervision of the instructor of record who
has final responsibility for the course’s entire instruction. Other
course support duties may include, but are not limited to, holding
office hours, grading, and participation in the development of
quizzes.

The department is interested in candidates who will contribute to the
