PhD studentship - UK fees and scholarship, University of Derby

The University of Derby is offering a studentship, covering UK home
fees (£4,712 p.a.) and a stipend (£18,622 p.a.), available for a
sociolinguistic project under the supervision of Cara Penry Williams.
Overseas students will need to pay the difference between the home
fees and the EU/Overseas fees. The working project title is "Social
meanings of language variation: Culture and creativity in everyday and
high performances". It focusses on evaluations of language in social
media and film, song and/or plays. The project is set but elements can
be tailored, including the focus identities and variety of English.

The first round of recruitment was unsuccessful and this is now a
January 2024 start. Note that a proposal outlining ideas about what
the applicant would study is required (e.g. which variety of English,
identity and social media platform(s) and creative works).
Applications are due Thursday the 24th of August, midday BST.
