Description:

The Department of Linguistics at Rutgers, the State University of New
Jersey – New Brunswick invites applications for a full-time,
non-tenure track (renewable) position as a Teaching Instructor in the
Department of Linguistics with specialization in Speech, Language and
Hearing Science or related field. This is a 3-3 teaching load position
with a teaching reduction of one course per year to compensate for
advising and administrative duties.

Duties include:
 - Teaching five sections (2-3 teaching load) of coursework. The
selection of courses may include any of the following: Anatomy and
Physiology of the Speech Mechanism; Introduction to Communication
Disorders; Audiology; Speech and Hearing Science; or Phonetics.
 - Advising undergraduate students preparing for graduate study or
careers in speech and hearing sciences.
 - Service to the department, school, and/or University.

As a Department of Linguistics, we seek applications from candidates
who value a strong theoretical linguistic background as a foundation
for advanced work in the speech and hearing sciences, and who will
approach teaching and advising undergraduate students with an
appreciation and enthusiasm for the synergy between linguistics and
the speech and hearing sciences.

Applicants should be aware that visa support will not be offered for
this position.

This position is for a Teaching Instructor, but a higher rank will be
considered based on experience.

Qualifications: The candidate must have completed all requirements for
a graduate degree (Master’s, Ph.D., or clinical doctorate) in Speech,
Language, and Hearing Science or related fields by August 31, 2023.
Experience teaching online courses, a willingness to engage in
pedagogical training and/or in the scholarship of teaching and
learning, and research experience are desirable.
