Meeting Description:

Translation as a means of intercultural communication has been studied
from different aspects. Life in the digital era, along with the
specific challenges, opens up new perspectives for the development of
the entire translation industry. Traditionally, conferences hosted by
educational centers function in scholarly aspects of Translation. BSU
translation conference of 2023 aims at bringing business perspective
into academic circles. BSU Chair of English Communication and
Translation has recently initiated professional membership with two
leading organizations in the field - European Language Industry
Association (ELIA) and Globalization and Localization Association
(GALA), thus enhancing professional network and enabling useful
cooperation via training opportunities, guest lecturing and serving as
a hub for the interested parties. The representatives of the industry
are invited for a discussion of actual problems in the broad field of
translation: to share cutting-edge research, to introduce the
opportunities of the international job market to young professionals
and students, to promote professional networking between local and
foreign translation businesses and organizations, as well as to
develop modernized educational programs.

Call for Papers:

The international conference "Translation in the 21st century" calls
for abstracts and papers related but not limited to the following
topics of discussion:

- Translation and intercultural communication
- Specific fields of translation (medical, political, literary, etc)
- Machine translation
- Digital translation tools
- Translation training

The conference is organized by BSU Chair of English Communication and
Translation to invite interested parties for a discussion of actual
problems in the broad field of translation: to share cutting-edge
research, to introduce the opportunities of the international job
market to young professionals and students, to promote professional
networking between local and foreign translation businesses and
organizations, as well as to develop modernized educational programs.

Participants are invited to submit their abstracts before August 1,
2023 with the following email address:
