Description:

The UCLA Department of Linguistics anticipates making a full time
appointment at the rank of Assistant Adjunct Professor starting Fall
2023. This will be a one year appointment in the area of phonology.
The teaching load for the position will be a total of five graduate
and undergraduate courses over three quarters (last week of September
to middle of June); most likely two graduate courses (one a survey
course in phonological theory and one a special-topics course), and
three undergraduate upper-division phonology courses. The appointee
will be expected to participate in the weekly research seminar in
phonology, to interact with graduate students and other faculty in the
department, and to participate in advising.

Fall 2023 instruction will begin in the last week of September 2023.
Salary will be based on the current UCLA Assistant Professor salary
scales.

Qualifications
Basic/minimum qualifications: Completed Ph.D. degree by start date
The ideal candidate will have experience that demonstrates:
 - Full command of contemporary phonological theory as well as general
knowledge of phonological phenomena
 - Skill in teaching
 - Other skills that could enhance the applicant's contributions to
the department's phonology program. These will vary from applicant to
applicant, but might include specialist knowledge of a language or
language family, fieldwork experience, expertise in experimental
methods or statistics, expertise in computational approaches, or other
skills.
 - The University of California, Los Angeles, and the Department of
