Meeting Description:

APLX 2023:
The 2023 Taipei Tech International Conference on Applied Linguistics
(APLX 2023) is a biennial conference has attracted applied linguists
from around the world since 2006. This year, we continue this
tradition, hoping to attract a greater number of international
researchers and encourage productive exchanges and fruitful
interactions among participants.

ETRA 40th:
As one of the major academic associations in English language
teaching, the English Teaching and Research Association, Taiwan (ETRA)
co-hosts an international conference annually. The International
Conference on English Teaching and Learning brings together
researchers, educators, and professionals from around the world to
share their knowledge, research findings, and practical experience in

TESPA:
TESPA (the Taiwan ESP Association), founded in 2008, aims to create a
strong network among teachers, lecturers and professionals and promote
ESP education in Taiwan. More information about TESPA is available on

Call for Papers:

Abstracts are welcome in any area of applied linguistics, bilingual
education, and English language teaching and learning, including but
not limited to:

1. Bilingual Education and Bilingualism: English medium instruction
(EMI), content and language integrated learning (CLIL), bilingual
policies, bilingual language acquisition, bilingual teacher education,
and other relevant topics

2. Applied Linguistics: multimodalities, pragmatics, discourse
analysis, psycholinguistics, sociolinguistics, corpus linguistics,
phraseology, language and culture, language and technology, language
assessment, cross-linguistic and cross-cultural communication, gender
studies, and other relevant topics

3. Foreign Language Teaching Theory and Practice: L2 acquisition/SLA,
content-based instruction, multi-/cross-cultural issues in English
education, language assessment, technology and English education, and
other relevant topics

4. ESP Research and Teaching: technical writing, corpus resources,
English for vocational
education/business/tourism/science/technology/management, innovations
in ESP curriculum design, international/inter-cultural
communication, trends and challenges in English for specific purposes,
and other relevant topics

5. Translation Studies: theory and practice of translation and
interpretation, translation and interpretation teaching, audiovisual
translation, game localization, translation and technology, news
translation, and other relevant topics.

Abstract Submission
1. Abstract submission deadline: May 10, 2023
2. Notification of abstract acceptance:June 10, 2023
3. Abstracts should be between 200 to 300 words.
4. We are using Oxford Abstracts to receive abstracts. You will need
an account with Oxford Abstracts to submit
an abstract. (Submission link:
https://app.oxfordabstracts.com/stages/5916/submitter)
5. All accepted abstracts (both oral presentations and posters) will
be invited for the submission of full papers; full papers will be
accepted in English only.


Types of Presentations:
1. Oral presentation: Each paper will be allocated 20 minutes for oral
presentation and 10 minutes for discussion.
2. Poster presentation: A dedicated area and time slot will be
arranged for display and discussion of posters.

Best Presentation Award:
Best oral and poster presentations will be selected based on the
voting by conference participants. The awards will be announced and
bestowed at the conference closing session.

Languages:
The official languages of the conference are English and Mandarin
Chinese. Proposals can be written in either
English or Chinese, and each paper should be presented in the language
in which it is submitted.
