The Routledge Handbook of Language Learning in the New Global Context
Handbook Series

Call for additional papers for the following two volumes under the
series:
- The Routledge Handbook of the sociopolitical context of language
learning
- The Routledge Handbook of the Documentation and Revitalization of
Endangered Languages

Series editors: Chris Shei, Weixiao Wei, Der-lin Chao, James Schnell

The Routledge Handbook of Language Learning in the New Global Context
had received 150+ proposals and have provisionally accepted close to
100 papers so far. The original book title is now expanded into The
Routledge Language Learning in the New Global Context Handbook Series
and the previously accepted papers have been allocated to two separate
handbooks within the series: one called The Routledge Handbook of the
sociopolitical context of language learning and the other called The
Routledge Handbook of the Documentation and Revitalization of
Endangered Languages. More handbooks under the series will follow with
expected frequency of one handbook per annum. This is a new type of
publication initiated by the current editorial team and supported by
the Routledge editorials we work with. The handbook series emulates
the journal in having a constant title and a frequency in publication.
It also has similar function to a journal in reflecting cutting-edge
research in the field through tightly followed publication cycles,
which, incidentally, can only be competently handled by very well
experienced and efficient editors. The handbook series differs from a
journal, however, in being a much larger volume per handbook with
30-50 chapters each. While journal papers normally focus on presenting
new findings or theoretical inventions, this handbook series on
language learning also provides comprehensive overviews and literature
reviews to scaffold novice researchers into the field while absorbing
the newest development in theory and practice simultaneously.
Only about ten additional papers for each of the two handbooks below
are required. Each authorship can only propose one paper and consist
of TWO authors at most per paper. Due to space limit individual
chapter names cannot be listed below but section names are given.
Please indicate which handbook you would like to be considered. Please
provide a proposed article title, abstract (300-500 words), author
name, title and affiliation. Email proposal to c-c.shei at swansea.ac.uk
by the end of April, subject to available spaces, first come first
served. Your proposal, if excellent, even if unsuitable for the
current handbooks, can still be considered for future handbooks in the
series.

Please respect the editors and do not assume your proposal must be
accepted or a strong explanation must be given for rejecting your
proposal, or enter into an argument with the editors for any reason.
We are providing an excellent venue for your research and ideas to be
published in this highly innovative series. We are very busy and to
adhere to our principles and standard and to maintain our efficiency,
we cannot always be thoughtful and extremely polite. Thank you for
your understanding and cooperation.

Dr Chris Shei, Swansea University, UK
General Editor of the handbook series
